Placenta Encapsulation

What is Placenta Encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation is the process of putting your placenta into capsules and other remedies. The placenta is an organ that develops in the uterus during pregnancy. Its purpose is to provide nutrients and oxygen to your unborn baby. Placentas produce several healing substances that are supportive to your body during the postpartum period such as iron, oxytocin, and prolactin.

Clients that have taken their placenta capsules have experienced:
-an increase of oxytocin (our “love” hormone) which helps bonding with your new baby and the uterus return to its normal size
-a decrease in postpartum depression and anxiety (you will often hear these to referred to as the “happy pills”)
-an increased milk supply for those that are nursing or pumping
-an increase to iron levels which aids in healing from birth

The process of encapsulation takes a couple hours each day for two consecutive days. I often complete this process in my personal workspace, however I do offer in-home encapsulation.
